2019 Christian Reading Challenge

The 2019 Christian Reading Challenge is hosted by blogger Tim Challies. This is different from most book blogger challenges in that there will be no links at his blog to post reviews. In fact, the focus is not necessarily on writing a review but he would like readers to post short reviews on social media.  He hopes that this will encourage discussion among friends and family of the reader on social media. Use #vtReadingChallenge to connect with others on social media.

Here are the rules.  There are 4 levels to the challenge.  You start with the Light Reader level which requires the reader to read 13 books, 1 book every 4 weeks.  The books must be chosen from the categories shown in the poster above.  If you click on the challenge link you will find another link to a pdf of the poster that is more readable.

If you complete that level, you move on to the Avid Reader level. This level requires that you read another 13 books every 2 weeks with the book categories chosen from the poster above.

If you complete the Avid Reader level you move on to the Committed Reader level. This level adds another 26 books bringing the total number of books to 52 or 1 book every week.  If you are able to do that, congratulations and move on to the Obsessed Reader level which doubles the total number of books to 104 or 2 books per week, all books still chosen from the categories shown in the poster above.

I can already tell you I will  barely make it through the Light Reader level.  I won't even try to go any further because I know myself. I won't do any additional reading.  If I end up a liar at the close of 2019 I will be the person who is most surprised.
